Longitudinal Phospho-tau217 Predicts Amyloid Positron Emission Tomography in Asymptomatic Alzheimer’s Disease
Practical Solutions and Value Highlights
Value of Blood-based AD Biomarkers
Blood-based AD biomarkers, such as plasma P-tau217, are increasingly used in clinical trials as a screening tool.
Utility of Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay
An electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunoassay was assessed for its ability to predict brain amyloid PET status in cognitively unimpaired individuals.
Participant Information
Both A4 and LEARN enrolled eligible cognitively unimpaired persons aged 65 to 85. The A4 Study included individuals with elevated amyloid PET levels, while the LEARN Study included those without elevated amyloid PET levels.
Interventions
Participants in the A4 Study received intravenous solanezumab or placebo every 4 weeks, while the LEARN Study was an observational study without intervention.
Diagnostic Value of P-tau217
The ROC analysis indicated high diagnostic value of P-tau217 in individuals with amyloid PET levels ≥ 20 and ≥ 33 CL, with strong positive correlation in repeated testing.
Conclusion
An ECL immunoassay accurately predicts amyloid PET positivity in cognitively unimpaired individuals, potentially reducing the screening burden of preclinical individuals in anti-amyloid clinical trials.
Clinical Trials and Everyday Medical Practice
Clinical trials play a crucial role in developing safe and effective treatments and should be extended into everyday medical practice. DocSym, an AI-driven platform, consolidates ICD-11 standards, clinical protocols, and research into a single, easily accessible knowledge base for clinicians.
Streamlining Healthcare Operations
In today’s healthcare environment, streamlining operations is crucial. Our mobile apps support scheduling, monitoring treatments, and telemedicine, making it easier to manage patient care and expand services digitally.
AI for Workflow Enhancement
By using AI, clinics can enhance their workflows and improve patient outcomes while reducing paper routines.
