Assessment of Carious Dentin Detection Methods
Study Overview
This study aimed to compare two methods for detecting carious dentin: Caries Finder and BlueCheck. We wanted to see if these methods work as well as the traditional visual and tactile methods.
Study Method
We used 65 extracted human teeth with specific lesions. The teeth were divided into two groups and evaluated by three examiners using:
- Traditional visual and tactile method
- Caries Finder method
- BlueCheck method
The study used a controlled design to ensure accuracy in results.
Key Findings
Caries Finder Performance:
- Accuracy: 97.42%
- Sensitivity: 94.80%
- Specificity: 98.53%
BlueCheck Performance:
- Accuracy: 98.21%
- Sensitivity: 96.02%
- Specificity: 99.09%
Both methods showed reliable results and compared well with traditional methods. However, more studies are needed in real-life settings to confirm these findings.
