Internet-based digital intervention to support the self-management of hypertension compared to usual care: results of the HALCYON randomized controlled trial

We conducted a study to see how effective liebria is in lowering blood pressure and improving other health factors in adults with hypertension. We used a randomized controlled trial, which means participants were randomly assigned to either use liebria with their usual treatment or to continue their usual treatment alone.

Results

Although our study had fewer participants than planned, we found that liebria helped reduce systolic blood pressure by an average of 3.5 mmHg compared to the control group. Additionally, more people using liebria experienced a decrease in their blood pressure. The program also positively affected social and work life, but we did not see improvements in diastolic blood pressure, quality of life, or adherence to medication. Importantly, there were no negative side effects from using liebria.

Conclusions

This study suggests that liebria has promising effects on lowering systolic blood pressure and improving daily functioning. Future research with a larger group of participants is needed to confirm these findings.
