Use of Virtual Simulation for Regenerative Endodontic Training
Study Overview
This study focused on creating a new teaching method using virtual simulation (VS) to help undergraduate students learn regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs). We wanted to see how this method affects students’ learning and their opinions about it.
Methodology
We developed a REPs-VS platform that includes detailed steps for diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation. A total of 123 fourth-year students were randomly split into two groups: Group A used the REPs-VS platform, while Group B followed traditional teaching methods. We measured the effectiveness through tests and gathered student feedback using questionnaires.
Results
Group A scored significantly higher in both theoretical (82.10 ± 14.50) and operational (90.65 ± 4.81) exams compared to Group B. Almost all students in Group A (98.3%) felt that the REPs-VS platform improved their knowledge and skills. Both groups agreed that the platform made the course more engaging, boosting their enthusiasm for learning.
Conclusion
The REPs-VS teaching platform is an innovative and practical tool that enhances undergraduate students’ understanding of REPs, laying a stronger foundation for their future clinical practice.
