Digital Homework Support Program for Children with ADHD
Overview
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects about 4% to 5% of people. Homework time can be stressful for children with ADHD, leading to anxiety and family stress. Many kids with ADHD struggle more with homework than their peers, which can hurt their academic success. Traditional support methods can be time-consuming and hard to access. Our new program, called the PANDAH app, aims to provide digital homework support for these children.
Study Objective
We want to see if the PANDAH app can improve homework performance and the quality of life for families of children with ADHD.
Research Method
The study includes children aged 9-16 diagnosed with ADHD but without other mental health issues. It will take place at nine ADHD centers across France. The study consists of two phases:
- Phase 1: A 3-month randomized controlled trial where participants are split into two groups: Group 1 (standard care) and Group 2 (using the PANDAH app).
- Phase 2: A 3-month period where everyone gets access to the app, encouraging those in Group 1 to try it.
We will evaluate participants at the beginning, 3 months in, and after 6 months, using trained psychologists. The main focus will be on improving homework performance as measured by the Homework Performance Questionnaire (HPQ).
Expected Outcomes
We anticipate:
- Better HPQ scores for those using the app in the first 3 months compared to those not using it.
- Further improvements for those using the app for 6 months over those using it for just 3 months.
- High engagement with the PANDAH app based on in-app measurements.
Current Status
The trial started recruitment in January 2024 and is currently ongoing.

This study is a step toward modernizing mental health care by utilizing digital tools like smartphone apps. The PANDAH app aims to support children and ease homework struggles for their parents.
