Enhancing Foster Care Relationships through Attachment-Based Intervention
Study Overview
The Circle of Security Parenting program® (COS-P) aims to strengthen the relationships between foster carers and children. This program is especially important for children in out-of-home care, who often face mental health issues due to early challenges and instability.
Study Design
This study will assess the effectiveness of the COS-P program in France through a randomized controlled trial. We will include 70 foster carers who will be split into two groups:
- Intervention Group: Receives COS-P plus standard care.
- Control Group: Receives only standard care.
We will collect data using various tools, including:
- Caregiving Composite Questionnaire
- Parenting Stress Index
- Marschak Interaction Method
Additionally, we will gather feedback from foster carers through focus groups and interviews.
Importance of the Study
This is the first study to evaluate the COS-P program for foster carers in France. The results will help us understand how effectively the program improves relationships between carers and children and enhances the well-being of foster carers. This knowledge can lead to better outcomes for children in care.
Trial Registration
This trial is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov with the identifier: NCT06701877.
