Study Overview
This study compares the results of two types of intraocular lenses (IOLs) used after cataract surgery: FineVision HP and FineVision Triumf.
Purpose
The goal was to see how well each lens performed in terms of vision quality for patients.
Methods
We followed 26 patients with the HP IOL and 27 patients with the Triumf IOL for 6 months. We measured various aspects of their vision, including:
- Distance visual acuity
- Intermediate visual acuity
- Near visual acuity
- Defocus curves
- Contrast sensitivity
We also collected patient feedback using a standard questionnaire and noted any side effects.
Results
Key findings included:
- 94% of patients had good vision within ±1.00 diopter.
- All patients achieved 20/20 vision or better for distance.
- Near vision was significantly better with the HP IOL (91.7% vs. 32%).
- The HP IOL provided greater independence from glasses for near tasks (96% vs. 75%).
- Both lenses improved overall vision quality significantly after surgery.
- No serious side effects were reported related to the lenses.
Conclusions
Both IOLs performed well, but the HP IOL offered better near vision and reduced the need for glasses. This information can help patients and doctors choose the right lens for cataract surgery.
