Published in J Prim Care Community Health in 2024, this study aimed to assess the impact of diabetes education on the quality of life and treatment satisfaction of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Sudan.
Methodology
The study involved 364 participants, with 182 in the control group and 182 in the interventional group. The interventional group received diabetes education in addition to usual care, while the control group received only usual care. Data was collected using pre-structured standardized questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 28.
Results
Results showed a statistically significant improvement in treatment satisfaction among the individuals who received diabetes education. However, there was no significant difference in the overall quality of life between the two groups at the end of the study.
Conclusion
The education provided led to improved self-reported treatment satisfaction among individuals with diabetes. Although there was no significant difference in quality of life between the two groups at the end of the study, the education had a positive impact on treatment satisfaction.
