Practical Solutions and Value in Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) Prophylaxis Study
Introduction
This research protocol compares the effectiveness of using a wearable acustimulation device along with standard medication to prevent PONV in patients undergoing laparoscopic abdominal surgery.
Method and Analysis
302 patients will be enrolled for elective laparoscopic surgery and randomly assigned to receive acustimulation with medication or sham stimulation with medication. The primary outcome is the incidence of PONV, with secondary outcomes including severity of PONV, nausea and vomiting rates, and gastrointestinal recovery indices.
Ethics and Dissemination
All participants will give written consent, and the study is approved by the Ethics Committee of Peking Union Medical Hospital. Results will be published openly.
