Efficacy of Jiangzhi Mai’an Granules in Treating Stable Angina Pectoris
Background
Stable angina pectoris is a heart condition caused by artery blockages, leading to a reduced quality of life and increased risk of heart issues. Modern treatments can be difficult to manage. Methods
The study involved 120 patients with stable angina and carotid plaque issues. They were randomly split into two groups:
- Control Group: 60 patients received standard Western medical treatment.
- Treated Group: 60 patients received Jiangzhi Mai’an Granules along with standard treatment.
Both treatments lasted for 3 months. Key outcomes measured were blood vessel thickness, plaque size, TCM symptom scores, and lipid profiles (cholesterol levels) before and after treatment.
Results
The treated group showed a 93.3% success rate, significantly higher than the control group’s 78.3%. Key findings included:
- Reduced carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and plaque size in the treated group.
- Improved lipid profiles in both groups, with the treated group showing better HDL cholesterol levels.
- Significant improvement in TCM symptom scores, more so in the treated group.
- No significant difference in adverse events between the two groups.
Conclusions
Combining Jiangzhi Mai’an Granules with standard treatment effectively reduced arterial thickness, plaque size, and improved cholesterol levels, leading to better outcomes for patients with stable angina and carotid atherosclerosis.
