Comparison of Febuxostat and Allopurinol with Low-Purine Diet in Treating Gout
Objective
To compare the effectiveness of febuxostat with a low-purine diet versus allopurinol with a low-purine diet in treating gout.
Methods
A study with 98 gout patients compared the two treatments. Patients were evaluated based on joint function, serum uric acid levels, and inflammatory factors. The Numeric Rating Scale was used to assess pain. Clinical indicators before and after treatment were compared.
Results
After 6 months, the study group showed a higher effective rate (97.96%) compared to the control group (85.71%). The study group also had lower levels of serum uric acid, creatinine, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. Inflammatory factors and pain levels were significantly lower in the study group. The study group also had a lower incidence of adverse reactions.
Conclusion
Febuxostat with a low-purine diet can reduce inflammatory factors and alleviate pain in gout patients, improving their clinical symptoms significantly.
