Dynamic changes in the gut microbiota after bismuth quadruple therapy and high-dose dual therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication
ABSTRACT
A study compared the impact of high-dose dual therapy (HDDT) and bismuth quadruple therapy (BQT) on the gut microbiota of patients with Helicobacter pylori infection.
Patients provided fecal samples at baseline, Week 2, and Week 14, which were analyzed to assess changes in the gut microbiota following eradication therapy.
Results indicated that HDDT had a milder impact on the gut microbiota compared to BQT, with a more favorable recovery of microbiota diversity and species abundance after eradication.
CONCLUSION
The study concluded that H. pylori eradication can disrupt the balance of gut microbiota, and HDDT offers a regimen with a less severe impact on the microbiota compared to BQT.
