Background
Current mental healthcare for individuals with severe issues often lacks consistent monitoring and relies on patients’ memory of their symptoms. Digital health technologies (DHTs) can improve care quality and clinical decisions. This study looked into the experiences of early psychosis service users with the ClinTouch app, a digital tool for remote monitoring.
Methods
The study used interviews to gather insights from eight participants who used the ClinTouch app during trials. A qualitative analysis was performed to understand their experiences.
Results
Four main themes emerged from the data:
- Awareness of Mood and Symptoms: Participants reported that ClinTouch helped them better understand their emotional states and symptoms.
- Acceptability of ClinTouch: Users found the app to be safe, easy to use, and beneficial for monitoring their symptoms.
- Improvements and Recommendations: Suggestions included adding personalized questions and interactive features to enhance user experience.
- Integrating ClinTouch into Clinical Practice: Participants expressed that the app could be effectively integrated into their clinical care.
Conclusions
This study highlighted that early psychosis service users found the ClinTouch app to be an effective tool for monitoring symptoms and increasing self-awareness. The feedback suggests that future versions of digital monitoring apps should focus on personalization and improved features.
