Study Summary: Movement System Impairment-Based Classification for Knee Pain
Background:
Knee pain is a common issue, and movement impairments can contribute to it. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of a movement system impairment-based treatment with routine physiotherapy for individuals with tibiofemoral rotation syndrome.
Methods:
- 22 individuals with knee pain were included in the study.
- Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the movement system impairment-based treatment or routine physiotherapy.
- Both groups had 8 treatment sessions over 4 weeks.
- Assessments were done at the beginning and after the 4-week intervention.
Results:
- Pain intensity and disability decreased significantly in both treatment groups.
- There were significant differences between the treatment groups for certain alignment and movement impairments.
- Only the MSI-based treatment group showed significant improvements in alignment and movement impairments.
Conclusions:
The study suggests that the specific MSI-based treatment can lead to improvements in pain, disability, and movement impairments for individuals with knee pain.
Practical Implications: This study highlights the value of classification-based treatment for individuals with knee pain, offering a potential solution for improving their condition.
Trial Registration: The trial was registered at (IRCT20210505051181N3) on 17/7/2021.
