Effect of Aerobic Training on Obesity
Background
Obesity is a major health issue worldwide, leading to various health problems, including heart disease. This study looks at how low- and moderate-intensity aerobic training can affect body composition and health markers in severely obese patients.
Methods
Forty severely obese patients participated in a six-week study. They were divided into two groups:
- Group 1: Moderate-intensity training (40-60% heart rate)
- Group 2: Low-intensity training (30-39% heart rate)
Both groups followed aerobic training combined with resistance training. Their health was measured through various tests, including blood tests for lipids and inflammation markers.
Results
Both groups showed improvements in physical abilities and certain blood markers related to health. However, only Group 1 experienced significant improvements in cardiorespiratory capacity and inflammation markers.
Conclusions
Both low- and moderate-intensity aerobic training can benefit severely obese patients, improving body composition and health markers. However, moderate-intensity training offers additional benefits in fitness and health profiles.
