Evaluation of a Rehabilitation Program for Melanoma Patients
Study Purpose
The study aimed to see how a comprehensive rehabilitation program affects the health of melanoma patients after surgery. It focused on improving physical health, emotional well-being, and reducing complications.
Methods
A total of 148 melanoma patients participated in the study. They were randomly divided into two groups:
– **Study Group (77 patients)**: Received surgery along with rehabilitation programs, including psychotherapy, nutritional support, and magnetic therapy.
– **Control Group (71 patients)**: Received only standard surgical treatment.
Results
– The study group showed a **significant improvement** in quality of life and overall health.
– Adverse events were less common in the study group (53%) compared to the control group (76%).
– The study group had **no patients** facing nutritional deficiency, while 12 patients in the control group did (p<0.05).
- Improvements in emotional, role, cognitive, and social functioning were noted in the study group, with reductions of 13.4%, 15.1%, 13.7%, and 14.2%, respectively. The control group had much smaller improvements.
Conclusion
Using a multidisciplinary rehabilitation approach, which included nutritional support, magnetic therapy, and psychological help, significantly improved symptom management and quality of life for melanoma patients after surgery.
