Study Results: Novel Elbow Joint Fixation Device
Reducing Complications in Brachial Artery Procedures
Patients undergoing percutaneous coronary diagnostic or therapeutic procedures through the brachial artery face a higher risk of vascular complications. A randomized study investigated the use of a 3D-printed elbow joint fixation device to reduce postoperative complications in these patients.
Results showed that the brace group, using the novel device, experienced significantly lower puncture site-related discomfort at 24 hours post-surgery (P = 0.014). Additionally, the brace group had lower upper arm and forearm calibration rates, as well as a smaller area of subcutaneous hemorrhage at 24 hours post-surgery. The device effectively reduced discomfort, alleviated swelling, and minimized bleeding area without significant complications.
Practical Solution: The novel elbow joint fixation device demonstrated effectiveness in reducing postoperative complications in patients undergoing brachial artery procedures, offering potential benefits for improved patient outcomes.
