Background
New lung testing devices have been developed, and we need to check how reliable the MeHow MeAir 9000 spirometer is for measuring lung function.
Objective
The goal is to see how accurate the MeHow MeAir 9000 spirometer is in measuring lung diffusing capacity.
Methods
We studied 166 people: 30 healthy individuals, 68 with interstitial lung disease (ILD), and 68 with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Participants took lung function tests using both the MeHow MeAir 9000 and another device called Jaeger MasterScreen. We followed standard testing guidelines from 2017. The main measurement was the diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO), and we also looked at several other indicators related to lung function.
Results
The results showed that 95% of the measurements from the MeHow MeAir 9000 were consistent with the standard. The device performed well across different groups, indicating it can reliably measure lung function. However, some secondary measurements were less consistent. Overall, the MeAir showed better stability in testing compared to the MasterScreen device.
Conclusion
The MeHow MeAir 9000 spirometer is accurate and reliable for measuring lung function, making it a good choice for clinical use.
