Online and Face-to-Face Mat Pilates Training for Long COVID-19 Patients
A Study on Health Outcomes
This study looked at how online and in-person Mat Pilates training affects adults with long COVID symptoms, particularly fatigue. A total of 49 patients, averaging 52 years old, were divided into three groups:
- Online Mat Pilates training (16 patients)
- Face-to-face Mat Pilates training (15 patients)
- Control group (18 patients, no training)
Training was held three times a week for 12 weeks. We measured fatigue, physical ability, body composition, and heart health before and after the training. Significant improvements were found only in the face-to-face Mat Pilates group:
- Reduced total, physical, and mental fatigue
- Improved trunk strength
- Better upper limb muscle endurance
- Enhanced aerobic capacity
However, there were no changes in body fat, muscle mass, or blood health markers after the training. This suggests that face-to-face Mat Pilates can effectively help with long COVID symptoms, especially fatigue and physical function.
