Study Overview
This study looked at how well the Healthy Aging Brain Care Monitor (HABC-M) can track changes in older adults recovering from trauma. We compared it to established measures of mental health and well-being.
Participants and Methods
We analyzed data from 120 participants in a clinical trial focused on the Trauma Medical Home (TMH) program. We used several established tests to measure depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and overall enjoyment of life.
Key Findings
Over six months, the HABC-M showed strong connections with other mental health measures:
- Depression: r = 0.66
- Anxiety: r = 0.42
- Sleep Disturbance: r = 0.57
- Enjoyment of Life: r = 0.47
Changes in HABC-M scores were significantly linked to changes in these other measures, indicating that it is effective in monitoring recovery.
Conclusion
The HABC-M is a valuable tool for tracking the recovery of older trauma survivors.
Opportunities for Clinics
