Background
Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a common cause of disability that affects physical and mental abilities. It often needs various treatment approaches. The MultiMove program combines movement, cognitive training, and dance to help CLBP patients. This study looked at how adding MultiMove to standard rehabilitation impacts patients.
Methods
In this study, 27 patients with CLBP were recruited from a rehabilitation clinic in Germany. They were divided into two groups. The intervention group (15 patients) participated in MultiMove sessions each day alongside standard rehabilitation, while the control group (12 patients) only followed the standard treatment. Researchers measured various physical, clinical, cognitive, and psychosocial outcomes before and after the rehabilitation period.
Results
Results showed that patients in the MultiMove group improved in many areas:
- Increased trunk motion and walking distance.
- Reduced pain intensity.
- Lowered anxiety about movement.
- Reduced depression symptoms.
Conclusion
The MultiMove intervention appears to enhance health outcomes for CLBP patients during hospital rehabilitation. More extensive studies are needed to confirm these findings.
Practical Healthcare Solutions
Based on these results, clinics should consider adopting the MultiMove approach as part of their rehabilitation programs for CLBP patients.
Goals and Measurable Outcomes
Clinics should set clear goals for patient rehabilitation by tracking improvements in:
