Reducing Radiation in Lung Tumor Treatment
It’s crucial to lower radiation exposure while ensuring effective treatment for lung tumors. This study explores a new technology called spectral shaping to achieve this during microwave ablation (MWA).
Study Overview
We conducted a clinical trial with 114 patients diagnosed with lung cancer, who were set to undergo CT-guided MWA. The patients were split into two groups:
- Experimental Group: 57 patients received the new spectral shaping technology.
- Control Group: 57 patients received the standard treatment.
Key Findings
The experimental group had:
- Higher image noise but lower radiation dose.
- No significant differences in image quality, operation time, or complication rates compared to the control group.
- Over 98.2% treatment success in both groups.
Benefits of Spectral Shaping Technology
This technology significantly reduces radiation exposure without affecting the quality of care or treatment outcomes.
Opportunities for Clinics
Based on the trial data, clinics can:
- Set clear goals to implement spectral shaping technology for safer treatments.
- Choose AI tools that align with their clinical needs to enhance patient care.
- Start with pilot projects to monitor results and expand based on real-world impacts.
