Technology and Dementia Preconference
Background
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a major global health issue that requires new treatment methods. Recent advancements in medical devices using biophoton technology have shown promise in enhancing the cognitive abilities and quality of life for AD patients.
Method
This study was a randomized, triple-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial aimed at determining whether biophotons can improve cognition in AD patients. A total of 30 participants with moderate to severe AD were enrolled, and they continued their usual care during the trial.
Results
Over a 4-week period, 16 participants in the treatment group used biophoton generators daily. Their cognitive function, quality of life, and brain activity were measured using standardized tools. Key findings include:
- 75% of participants reported reduced severity on the Alzheimer’s Questionnaire.
- 88% showed improved quality of life according to the SF-36 score.
- 94% experienced increased brain bioenergy.
These results were significantly better than those in the control group (P < 0.01). EEG tests indicated fewer missed responses in the treatment group, and caregivers reported less stress and difficulty. No adverse effects were noted.
Conclusion
These encouraging results suggest that biophoton therapy could be a safe and effective new treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. More research is needed to understand how it works. This study marks an important advancement in Alzheimer’s treatment.
