Optimizing a Mobile Emotion Regulation Intervention for University Students
Overview
University students are facing increasing mental health challenges. To address this, we created a mobile intervention called ROOM that helps students develop better emotion regulation (ER) skills. Our goal was to understand how ROOM works and improve its content and delivery.
Study Details
We conducted a study using a method called a Micro-Randomized Trial (MRT), which involved 161 university students (82% female) over three weeks. The study looked at:
- How students felt after using the intervention (positive and negative emotions).
- Changes in distress symptoms and ER skills.
- User experiences through interviews with 18 participants.
Key Findings
After using ROOM:
- Positive emotions increased, while negative emotions decreased.
- The boost in positive emotions lessened over time, but negative emotions remained stable.
- Distress symptoms and ER skills showed improvement or stayed the same, indicating the intervention is safe.
- Students enjoyed the intervention and found the content relevant and helpful.
Practical Solutions and Value
Clinical trials are essential for creating safe and effective treatments. Our AI-driven platform, DocSym, helps clinicians by:
- Consolidating ICD-11 standards and clinical protocols into one easy-to-use resource.
- Streamlining operations with mobile apps for scheduling, treatment monitoring, and telemedicine.
- Improving workflows and patient outcomes while reducing paperwork.
